Tryouts and Registration
How do I find tryouts in my area?
Open the Tryouts page and choose your region. Each region shows Youth and High School registration availability plus a collapsed schedule of confirmed dates.
Does the Request Tryout Info form register my player?
No. The form requests follow-up information only. A player is registered only after an approved registration form linked from the Tryouts page is completed.
What should a player expect at a Cal Storm tryout?
Players meet the coaching staff, compete with other athletes, and are evaluated for the team and training environment that best supports their development.
Which grade should I use when registering?
Use the grade requested by the current registration form. If the correct grade or age group is unclear, request tryout information before submitting.
Teams and Age Groups
Which age groups does Cal Storm serve?
The Youth Program serves 10U through 14U. The High School Program serves 15U through 17U. Current availability varies by region and season.
Does California Storm offer girls and boys programs?
California Storm offers programs for girls and boys. The expanded Girls Tryouts guide applies specifically to the girls program. Use Tryouts or Contact to confirm current availability.
How are players placed on teams?
Coaches use tryout evaluation and program needs to determine the appropriate team and group placement. Placement details and practice schedules are shared after the tryout process.
Practices and Player Development
What can players expect from the Cal Storm experience?
Players can expect structured development, weekly team practices, individual offensive and defensive work, game-like decision-making, and competition appropriate to their team.
Are additional training opportunities available?
Year-round opportunities may include shooting academies, skill development, strength training, and speed and agility sessions. Availability is announced through current program communication.
Tournaments and Travel
What level of competition does Cal Storm play?
Teams compete in regional and national events. High School opportunities may include EYBL, EYCL, and TOC Nike Circuit events according to team placement and the current schedule.
Will my player travel, and where can I find the schedule?
Travel varies by team, age group, and season. Use the Tournament Schedule for published events, the Team Calendar for program dates, and TeamSnap for team-specific updates.
Fees and Payments
How much does it cost to play?
Fees vary by team, age group, season, and competition schedule. Current costs and payment expectations are provided through the approved registration or placement process.
How are registration and team payments managed?
Follow the instructions provided with approved registration or team placement. Active team management currently uses TeamSnap; the legacy WordPress Member Account is not the current member path.
Recruiting and Exposure
Does Cal Storm provide recruiting exposure?
The High School Program combines development, national competition, and preparation for the college recruiting process. Participation does not guarantee recruitment, a roster offer, or a scholarship.
Regional Programs
Where does Cal Storm have regional programs and practices?
Tryout regions currently include Los Angeles/Orange County, Ventura County, Northern California, High Desert, The Valley (SFV/SCV), Arizona, and Hawaii. Practice venues vary by team and are confirmed through program communication.
Parent Communication
How will families receive team updates?
Active team communication is handled through TeamSnap. Public program dates and tournaments also appear on the Team Calendar and Tournament Schedule.
